Cecilia Cruz Vecina

Cecilia
Cecilia Vecina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and a Master’s degree in Human Geography from the university of São Paulo, where she is currently a P.h.D candidate. In 2019 she was a substitute professor at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Brazil). In the History Department at Harvard, supervised by professor Sidney Chalhoub and with the financial support of Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) (from July 2023 to June 2024), she studies the role of kinship in the passage from slavery to free labor in nineteenth- century in Brazil.
