Raúl Moreno Almendral is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. He obtained his PhD in History from the University of Salamanca (Spain), where he is currently a lecturer in Modern and Contemporary History. He has held visiting positions at the Department of Government, London School of Economics and Political Science, the Centre de Recherches Historiques, L'École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and the Instituto de Ciências Sociais, University of Lisbon. He works on nationalism and identity in Western Europe and the Americas, mostly during the 18th and 19th centuries. His PhD dissertation was a comparative study of the British, French, Spanish and Portuguese nation-building during the Age of Revolutions (c. 1780-1840) using personal diaries, journals and memoirs. His postdoctoral project seeks to illuminate the nature of secession processes by studying continuities and ruptures in the relationships between citizenship and nationhood on both sides of the Atlantic during the Latin-American independences. https://usal.academia.edu/RaulMorenoAlmendral
