Angela Yesenia Olaya Requene is a PhD student in Anthropology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. At Harvard, she was working on: "Afro-Colombian social movement: dispossessions, forced displacements and borders." Her dissertation studies the impact of local and international mobility flows, settlement and economic activity of Afro-Colombian communities in the Pacific region, specifically in the municipality of Tumaco (Colombia) and its border area with Ecuador. She was ALARI Visiting Doctoral Fellow.
